Dante è un osteopata fidanzato con Susy, una giovane e ingenua ragazza.
Da buon ex-playboy, reticente al matrimonio, decide di tutelarsi dicendo a Susy di essere già sposato. Ma un giorno, messo alle strette dalla ragazza che insiste per conoscere la “rivale in amore”, si trova costretto a reclutare in fretta una moglie.
La scelta ricade sulla segretaria Ester che, se pur controvoglia, accetta di aiutarlo.
A cercare di coprire ulteriormente questa farsa con risultati maldestri è l’amico di Dante, Achille; mentre Oscar, nuovo vicino di casa di Dante, prende spunto dalla situazione per la sua nuova commedia.
